Clarinet – Cabrette

A musician of many instruments (clarinet, piano, accordeon) and composer, Franck Séguy writes for theatre, performs klezmer music and accompanies pop singers.

After graduating from Conservatoire National de Région de Paris with a Médaille d’Or in Clarinet and Composition, at age 18, Franck dedicated himself primarily to jazz and klezmer music.

He continued to be active in composition, guided by Raymond Weber. In 1984, he appeared in “Le Rocky Horror Show” with Zabou Breitmann, then composed music for directors such as Michel Didym, Véronique Bellegarde, Grégoire Oestermann, Gerard Watkins and Irène Bonnaud, Guy Freix, Patrick Pineau, and others.

He worked as musician and composer at the festival “La Mousson d’Ete” for several years, and composed music for fictions featured on radio station France Culture. In 2007 and 2008, Franck hosted and produced a weekly programme entitled “Patchworld” on Altermusica, a web-radio dedicated to world music.

He was one of the founders of klezmer music group “L’Orient Express Moving Schnoerer", and later “Mish Mash", with violinist Michel Ripoche. He also played with groups such as “Atzegana”, “Manguina” and “Paris Klezmer Band”, before founding the “YET” (Yiddish Express Trio ) Trio. He can been heard with Davis Amsellem's “Swing Klezmer Orchestra” and “Adama”, founded by the Ilan Brothers, and Maurice Zaoui, as well as with female vocalist Rona Hartner.

Alongside this, Franck accompanies pop singers (Salvatore Adamo, Yves Duteil, Lio, Jeanne Cherhal, Cali, Isabelle Boulay, Maurane, Julien Doré, etc.) on tours, at festivals, for studio album recordings, and at pubs and other locales.
